Hotel & Restaurant Salesperson
Objective
- Achieving the sales and profit budget by attracting new customers to the business
- To develop and enhance Layton’s trade profile within the relevant Hotel and Restaurant market
Responsibilities are:
- To maintain a positive relationship with recently converted customers.
- Consider ways we can implement and grow our business with such customers.
- Help identify and develop potential new business.
- Prepare proposals that are tailored to existing or potential new customers’ needs.
- Plan regular visits to all existing and potential customers.
- Communicate with customers as and when required.
- To liaise with sales support in order to maintain customer service levels.
- Achieve the annual budget for sales and contribution.
- Attend training to develop knowledge and skills.
Profile
- Self driven, results orientated with a clear understanding of profitable business
- Able to plan and effectively manager their time
- Ability to achieve deadlines
- Capable and comfortable in dealing with different levels of decision makers within the Hotel and Restaurant market.
- Good communication skill
- Keen to gain new experience and responsibility.
- To contribute imaginatively to the development of sales strategies for the team.
- Team player
- Qualified to a minimum of WSET Higher Certificate or equivalent knowledge
- Computer skills – some working knowledge of Word and Excel would be helpful
- Literacy and numeracy: Able to calculate the profitability of proposals to customers, and be a competent writer of business letters and tenders.
- Business and Selling Skills: Experience of dealing with customers face to face and via the telephone. Able to demonstrate success and experience of managing accounts in the wine industry.
Trade Wine Buyer
Objectives
- Ensure that the Trade portfolio of wines are both commercial and financial viable.
- To source the wines direct from the producer.
- Improve margin conversion without jeopardising quality and consistency of the product.
- Develop the various forms of support from our volume suppliers.
- Works with the Stock Controller to ensure that stockholding levels remain within agreed parameters.
Reporting to the Buying Director, responsibilities are:
Buying
- Full responsibility for the selection and procurement of wines for the trade divisions, which is described in Appendix A.
- Review portfolio on a regular basis to ensure its market relevance and that contribution is maximised at all times.
- Visit potentially new suppliers to identify opportunities, and negotiate best price for new listings and new vintages.
- Expand portfolio to gain entry into new markets.
- Secure marketing support from suppliers wherever possible and exploit any opportunities to increase turnover and margin.
- Attend relevant trade tastings to assess buying opportunities.
- Organise monthly tastings with trade sales teams.
- In conjunction with marketing produce the Trade Catalogue and Price Lists.
Stock control
- To advise the stock administrator of new products and vintage changes and price changes.
- Work closely with individual salesmen to ascertain their forecast volume requirements.
- Liaise with agreed key suppliers and shippers to ensure timely preparation, collection and delivery of orders.
- To advise both sales and marketing of vintage changes and new arrivals.
Profile
- Currently working as a buyer with the On Trade.
- Experienced wine buyer with excellent contacts in priority areas of supply covering South America, Australia, Spain and Italy.
- Commercial aware of the how On Trade operates.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- WSET Diploma.
- Knowledge of a foreign language would be desirable.
- Good communication skills.
- Team player.
