It is with sadness in my heart that I introduce the German section. As a lover of wine and a believer that Riesling is the greatest white grape, I wish more consumers in this country would try German wine and so let us return to the days of listing a huge range. Every time I introduce someone to German Riesling (after overcoming their assertation that they ‘do not like German wine’), they realise what they have been missing, but we need more evangelists to spread the word! If we are to only list one estate, then at least I am thankful that it is Bürklin-Wolf, whose wines are beautifully balanced and superbly food friendly.
